Court code
Your DMV court code
Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code. It matches your completion to your case at the right court. Your citation and courtesy notice name the courthouse, and the code belongs to that courthouse.
Imperial County Superior Court uses two codes for adult traffic. Code 13440 is the El Centro Courthouse, where the Traffic Division sits, and code 13450 is Winterhaven Court, in the far east of the county. The court's traffic page names these two buildings as its traffic courts. Juvenile cases go to the Juvenile Division in the El Centro Courthouse, under code 13100.
The court names no courthouse in Brawley or Calexico, although older school lists still carry codes for both towns. Go by the courthouse on your notice.
Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. Choose the courthouse your notice names, not the one nearest your home.

Your case
Find your case, then ask for traffic school
Finding your case
Once your citation is filed with the court, the court mails you a courtesy notice with the information you need. The citation carries your citation number, and the notice names the courthouse and says whether you may attend traffic school. If the notice has not come, contact the court rather than wait for it.
The court's traffic page links its own case search, which finds a case by driver's license number, case number or citation number. For anything the papers and the search leave open, call the call center at (760) 336-3500 or write to the Traffic Division through the court's email form.
How to ask for traffic school
Your courtesy notice says whether you may attend traffic school, and the court's traffic page explains how to ask. You ask by paying the full fine plus the court's traffic school fee before your due date. The court sets that fee, and the courtesy notice and the traffic page show it.
The traffic page links two lists of schools: the DMV's search tool and a list of internet schools for Imperial County. Leave the court's online ability to pay tool alone for this, because the court says it is not for drivers who want traffic school.

From citation to certificate in Imperial County
What Imperial County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:
- 1
You receive a citation
The ticket carries a Pay or Appear date, and the court treats that date as the deadline. A courtesy notice follows by mail once the citation is filed, but the court says the notice is not an extension of time.
- 2
You check the court's rules
Your courtesy notice shows whether you are eligible. The internet school list the court links says only one citation in an 18-month period can be kept off your record through traffic school.
- 3
You ask the court
Before your due date, pay the full fine plus the traffic school fee the way your notice describes. Paying the fine alone closes the case, and the court says your DMV record will be affected.
- 4
You finish a licensed course
The court sets how long you have, and the papers it sends you show the date. Pick a school from the DMV's search tool or from the internet list the court links, where Mirai Traffic School appears. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756 and costs $24.99.
- 5
The court receives your completion
After you pass, the court receives your completion and notifies the DMV that you finished traffic school. If you need more time to finish, the school list says to contact the court that imposed the sentence.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What drivers ask about Imperial County Superior Court.
The statewide rules
This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.
Interpreters and language help
The court publishes its traffic page in Spanish, with the Pay or Appear rule, the six ways to resolve a citation and the agency list, and its website switches between English and Español. Its pages describe no interpreter request process, so raise the need with the call center at (760) 336-3500 well before any hearing. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
