What the roads, the courts and the rules mean for a citation in San Bernardino County.

San Bernardino County reaches from Chino over the San Bernardino Mountains to Needles on the Colorado River. The Census Bureau measures 20,068 square miles of land and estimates 2,224,091 residents on July 1, 2025. Interstate 15 climbs the Cajon Pass to Victorville and Barstow, Interstate 40 runs east from Barstow to Needles, and US 395 and State Routes 58, 127 and 247 fan out across the desert.

The California Office of Traffic Safety counted 15,118 people killed or injured in the county's crashes in 2023. Weighing crashes against population and miles driven, with 1 as the worst, it ranked the county 32nd of 58. Motorcycle crashes stand out, with 870 people killed or injured, 5th in the state, and hit-and-run crashes that killed or hurt someone numbered 1,059, 16th.

The court splits adult traffic among four districts and assigns every community to one. Fontana takes the valley from Chino and Ontario to Redlands and Yucaipa, plus Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. Barstow takes the High Desert from Victorville and Hesperia to Big Bear Lake, whose own courthouse also hears traffic arraignments. Joshua Tree takes Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley, and Needles the river towns.

Tickets from CHP Areas such as Rancho Cucamonga and Needles go to these same districts, as city police tickets do. The court's guides say its San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga and Victorville courthouses hear no infractions. Drivers under 18 use the same adult traffic courts.

San Bernardino County Superior Court, in the district that covers the place you were cited. A ticket written in Rialto or Upland goes to Fontana, (909) 350-9322, and one from Apple Valley or Phelan to Barstow, (760) 718-3700. Call the clerk on your ticket to reserve a court date.

Two separate payments. The court sets a nonrefundable traffic school fee on top of your bail, and its traffic school page shows the amount. The court's online Ability to Pay tool cannot request traffic school. Mirai Traffic School's course is $24.99, paid to us. If you cannot pay in full, you can ask the court to lower the amount based on your finances.

By the completion date the court sets for your case. Finish early enough for the electronic report to reach the court by then, because a late one means the fine and a conviction reported to the DMV. Missing the ticket's due date can add fees, a license hold or collections.

The court decides, not Mirai Traffic School. You need a moving violation, no traffic school in the past 18 months counted violation date to violation date, and speed within 25 mph over the limit. Commercial vehicles, alcohol or drug charges and mandatory appearances rule it out, though a Class A holder driving a personal vehicle may attend.

Yes. The court sends drivers to the California Traffic Safety Institute list, which lists Mirai Traffic School as E0756, including under its Japanese and Russian headings. We report your completion to the DMV, and the court processes it electronically.

Mirai Traffic School's lessons and final exam come in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian. San Bernardino County Superior Court provides interpreters in all case types as resources are available. Tell the court as early as you can, because its Local Rule 332 sets a minimum notice for each language.
