Court code
Your DMV court code
Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code. It matches your completion to your case at the right court. Your citation and reminder notice name the courthouse, and the code belongs to that courthouse.
The court asks you to give the traffic school the code for your district. Code 36480 is Fontana, 36130 is Barstow, 36140 is Joshua Tree and 36660 is Needles. Big Bear has no code of its own, because its traffic cases belong to Barstow. Tickets from Victorville and Hesperia also go to Barstow.
Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. Pick the district named on your ticket, and the code follows.
- 36480
- Fontana District
- 36130
- Barstow District
- 36140
- Joshua Tree District
- 36660

Your case
Find your case, then ask for traffic school
Finding your case
The court mails a reminder notice to the address on your ticket. If it does not arrive and you are unsure what to do, the court says to visit the courthouse, write before the appearance date or speak with a clerk. Not getting the notice does not excuse you, and missing the date can bring added fees, a hold on your license or collections.
Your ticket and notice carry the citation number. The court's traffic pages link its Case Information and Documents page for looking up a case online.
How to ask for traffic school
The court's traffic school page explains how San Bernardino County Superior Court lets you sign up, and it asks for the bail on your citation plus a traffic school fee that the court does not refund. A request by mail follows the instructions on your reminder notice, with "traffic school" and your citation number written on the payment, and it must arrive by the due date.
You cannot request traffic school through the court's online Ability to Pay tool.

From citation to certificate in San Bernardino County
What San Bernardino County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:
- 1
You receive a citation
The court mails a reminder notice to the address on your ticket. Act by the appearance date on the ticket whether or not the notice comes.
- 2
You check the court's rules
You qualify for a moving violation if you have not attended traffic school for another violation in the past 18 months, counted from violation date to violation date, were not over 25 mph above the limit, were not in a commercial vehicle, were not cited for alcohol or drugs, and face no charge that needs a mandatory appearance. A Class A license holder driving a personal vehicle may attend.
- 3
You ask the court
Pay the bail on your ticket plus the court's traffic school fee the way its traffic school page describes. The court does not refund that fee, and the school charges its own enrollment fee.
- 4
You finish a licensed course
Choose a school from the California Traffic Safety Institute list the court links to, and give it your district's code. The court sets the completion date. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756 and costs $24.99.
- 5
The court receives your completion
The school reports to the DMV, and the court processes it through an electronic database. Finish early enough for it to arrive by your completion date. If it comes late, the court applies the fine and reports the ticket to the DMV as a conviction.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What drivers ask about San Bernardino County Superior Court.
The statewide rules
This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.
Interpreters and language help
The court provides interpreters for courtroom proceedings in all case types as resources allow. Tell the court you need one as far ahead of the hearing as you can, and its Local Rule 332 sets the minimum notice for each language. If none is available, the case may be delayed or continued, or at your request the court may appoint an adult family member or friend as a temporary interpreter. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
