Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask most about a Stanislaus County citation.

The statewide rules

Every ticket written in this county goes to its superior court, which decides whether to allow traffic school. Once in any 18 months, a completed licensed course makes the conviction confidential and adds no point. The statewide rules and their sources are on our California traffic school rules page.

Two separate payments. The court takes the full bail plus its own non-refundable traffic school fee. Your Reminder Notice shows the fine, and the court's Sign Up for Traffic School page lists the fee. Mirai Traffic School's course is $24.99, paid to us. If paying the court is hard, ask it to consider your ability to pay.

Your Traffic Court Reminder Notice says whether the case qualifies. Ask before your court date and send the full bail and the court's fee with the request. Case numbers that begin with TR- can sign up online. Any other case goes to the clerk's office at 2260 Floyd Avenue in person, or by mail with a written request, the payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Then give your school your case or citation number and code 50450.

The court sets the due date once it has your request and payment, and its traffic school page explains how it counts the time. If you cannot finish by then, contact the court before the due date so it can make other arrangements.

Mirai Traffic School reports your completion to the DMV electronically. The court reads the DMV's records, pulls the cases that finished traffic school and updates them. Your case is complete once the course shows as finished and the bail and fee are paid in full.

The court decides, not Mirai Traffic School. You need a California license, because out-of-state licenses do not qualify. You cannot be in traffic school now, have attended for a citation issued within 18 months, counted violation date to violation date, or have been cited while driving a commercial vehicle. A commercial license holder cited in a non-commercial vehicle can attend, then calls the DMV's Mandatory Action Unit at (916) 657-6525 to have the point masked.

The DMV's list of traffic school providers, which the court calls randomized. You can filter it by language. Mirai Traffic School holds DMV license E0756.

Mirai Traffic School teaches the course in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian. The court offers interpreters in traffic cases if you ask on form INT-300 before your court date. The court's traffic page and its arraignment video also come in Spanish.
