Merced County Superior Court hears traffic at two divisions that share DMV court code 24400: the Traffic Division at 720 West 20th Street in Merced and the Los Banos Division at 1159 G Street in Los Banos. Its Traffic Division files citations from law enforcement agencies across the county, so a ticket from the California Highway Patrol's Merced or Los Banos Area goes to the same court as one from city police.

Once the court authorizes a traffic school request, it sends you a list of schools and a completion due date. After you pass the final exam, Mirai Traffic School reports your completion to the DMV electronically. The court does not say how or when the completion reaches its file, so finish early and keep your confirmation.

Missing the date at the bottom of your citation can bring added penalties, including a civil assessment. A driver under 18 whose Juvenile Traffic Notice to Appear marks a mandatory appearance must appear as that notice says.

By mail. Mark option 4 on your courtesy notice or write to the court, and send the full bail plus the court's traffic school fee, payable to Merced Superior Court. For questions, call (209) 725-4189 in Merced or (209) 725-4212 in Los Banos.

The court takes the full bail plus its own traffic school fee, and its traffic page shows the current amount. Mirai Traffic School charges $24.99 for the course and final exam. If you cannot afford the court's amount, its traffic page links form TR-320, Can't Afford to Pay Fine.

The court sets a completion due date when it authorizes your request. If you need more time, ask the court, because the DMV cannot extend it.

The court decides, not Mirai Traffic School. It asks for a moving violation, no traffic school in the past 18 months, no more than 3 infractions and no misdemeanor on your driving record, and a speed no more than 25 mph over the limit. A commercial driver in a commercial vehicle cannot attend.

Mirai Traffic School teaches the course and final exam in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian. The court's traffic video comes in English, Spanish and Hmong, and the court has Spanish interpreters daily. For any other language, contact the court.

No, according to the court. Its Los Banos page says both branches will no longer hear matters and that Los Banos handles all of them. Some ticket sites still list them.
