Fresno County Traffic School

Fresno County reaches from west side farm towns across the valley floor into the Sierra Nevada. The Census Bureau estimates its population at 1,035,456 on July 1, 2025, and it has 15 incorporated cities. State Route 99 runs through Fresno, Fowler, Selma and Kingsburg, State Route 168 climbs from Clovis to Shaver Lake, and State Route 33 links Firebaugh, Mendota and Coalinga near Interstate 5.

The California Office of Traffic Safety counted 5,377 people killed or injured in Fresno County crashes in 2023, placing it 54th of 58. In these rankings 1st is the worst. Children on foot are the exception, with 40 pedestrians under 15 killed or hurt, 8th in the state.

Fresno County Superior Court has one traffic courthouse, the M Street Courthouse at 2317 Tuolumne Street in downtown Fresno, under the county's one DMV court code, 10440. To spare drivers the trip downtown, the court also runs Court ACCESS sites at Orange Cove City Hall, Mendota City Council Chambers and Coalinga City Hall. There a court employee appears remotely from the courthouse for traffic arraignments and court trials. The sites take no payments.

If the court allows traffic school, you pay the bail plus the court's administrative fee, and your courtesy notice lists both amounts. The court sets how long you have to finish. Let a citation's due date pass without acting and the court warns you may be deemed to have chosen a trial by written declaration under Vehicle Code section 40903.

After you pass the final exam, we report your completion to the DMV, and the court says the school informs it electronically. Drivers under 18 can clear a signed-off juvenile citation marked correctable at any traffic counter or by mail, with the court's fee for each correctable violation. The CHP's Fresno and Coalinga Areas both patrol the county, and their tickets go to the same Superior Court as city police tickets.
