Court code

Your DMV court code

Every California traffic court is listed with the DMV under a five-digit court code, and your completion finds your case through it. Your citation and courtesy notice name the court, and the code belongs to it.

Colusa County Superior Court hears traffic at its Courthouse Annex on Oak Street in Colusa, under DMV court code 06620. The court gives 532 Oak Street as its address for traffic payments and papers.

Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. For a Colusa County ticket, choose the Courthouse Annex and 06620.

Your case

Find your case, then ask for traffic school

Finding your case

The court is not required to send a bail notice, but it mails a courtesy notice to the address on the citation. The notice shows the bail, with or without proof of correction. Not receiving it is no excuse, because you must act by the appearance date written at the bottom of the citation.

The court's traffic page links the court's payment page. Put your case or citation number on anything you mail the court, and call (530) 458-5149 for what the papers do not answer.

The court's traffic page

How to ask for traffic school

If your courtesy notice shows you are eligible, return the signed notice with the original bail plus the court's state-mandated traffic school fee by your appearance date. The court's traffic page explains the rest. Colusa County Superior Court takes traffic school only when it is paid in full, and its address is 532 Oak Street, Colusa, CA 95932.

After you pay, the court sends no further notice. You contact the school yourself, and a school charges its own fee to attend.

Your citation

What the court does with your ticket, and what Mirai Traffic School does for you.

From citation to certificate in Colusa County

What Colusa County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:

  1. 1

    You receive a citation

The courtesy notice shows the bail and whether proof of correction changes it. Act by the appearance date at the bottom of your citation whether or not the notice arrives.

  2. 2

    You check the court's rules

Your courtesy notice says whether you may take traffic school. If it says your appearance is mandatory, you cannot settle the case by paying the bail.

  3. 3

    You ask the court

Return the signed courtesy notice with the original bail and the court's fee, paid in full, by the appearance date.

  4. 4

    You finish a licensed course

The court sets how long you have from your payment, or a judge gives you a date in court. Choose a school from the DMV list the court links. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756, costs $24.99, and saves your place whenever you stop.

  5. 5

    The court receives your completion

Your certificate must reach the court by the due date. If it does not, or you decide not to attend, the court reports a conviction to the DMV, and your automobile insurance may suffer.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask about Colusa County Superior Court.

The statewide rules

This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.

Send the bail with your signed bail notice asking for a court trial and entering a plea of not guilty, so the court receives them ahead of your appearance date. The court mails you the date and time of the trial. You may also contest the ticket by a trial by written declaration.

A law enforcement officer or other authority signs the back of your citation or courtesy notice, listing each corrected violation. A DMV clerk, a traffic clerk or a law enforcement agency can certify registration and driver's license violations. Send the proof with the fees by mail or in person to the Traffic Division.

If you were insured when cited but had no proof in the car, mail or bring the policy or insurance card showing the dates of coverage, and pay the court's fee for a single violation. Insurance bought after the ticket, shown with its effective dates, can lower the fine on that charge. Without insurance, you pay the full amount on your courtesy notice.

The case becomes a failure to appear, and fines and fees may be added. If it stays open, it goes to the court's Collections Unit with a civil assessment, and a hold may be placed on your license under Vehicle Code sections 40509 and 40509.5.

Contact the Colusa County Superior Court Collections Unit at (530) 458-0600 or collections@colusa.courts.ca.gov for the total. A DMV hold stays until that account is paid in full with verified funds.

Ask the court in writing to reduce or vacate it, and choose a decision on your declaration and papers or a hearing before a judicial officer, who decides whether you have good cause. The petition is at the clerk's office. You may also ask a judicial officer to decide your ability to pay the fine.

Yes. Forfeiting bail is the same as a conviction of the offense, and it goes on your driving record. You may forfeit the bail on your notice unless your appearance is mandatory.

Interpreters and language help

Colusa County Superior Court links a Language Access Toolkit about working with interpreters in eight languages. Its interpreter complaint form comes in Spanish, Russian and other languages, and the Court Language Access Representative answers each complaint. Ask the clerk at (530) 458-5149 about an interpreter well before your date. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
