Court code
Your DMV court code
Each California traffic court is filed with the DMV under a five-digit court code, and your completion reaches your case through it. Your citation and courtesy notice name the court, and the code belongs to it.

Your case
Find your case, then ask for traffic school
Finding your case
The court mails a courtesy notice to the address on the citation. It carries your case or docket number, the citation number, the bail, the due date, whether you may take traffic school, how to clear a fix-it violation, where to go to contest the ticket, and how to pay. Court staff cannot quote bail or discuss the ticket until the citing agency sends the citation to the court.
If the notice has not come as your appearance date nears, search for your citation in the court's online case index, call (530) 251-8205, come to the courthouse or write before that date. Not receiving the notice is no legal excuse for missing the due date. If the address on your citation is wrong, call the court to change it.
How to ask for traffic school
Your courtesy notice says whether Lassen County Superior Court lets you take traffic school, and the court's traffic page explains how to ask. You pay the bail plus the court's traffic school fee before the appearance date, and the school you choose charges its own fee. The court's fee pays for monitoring the curriculum, the school lists and the court's traffic school clerk, and none of it goes to the school.
The court's mailing address is Lassen Superior Court, 2610 Riverside Drive, Susanville, CA 96130. Put the case or traffic docket number on what you send.

From citation to certificate in Lassen County
What Lassen County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:
- 1
You receive a citation
The court mails a courtesy notice before your appearance date, which sits below your signature on the ticket. You must respond to the citation whether or not the notice arrives.
- 2
You check the court's rules
You need a valid license and no traffic school for a violation in the 18 months before this one. The clerk cannot grant traffic school for a misdemeanor, an alcohol or drug violation, more than 25 mph over the limit, a commercial vehicle, or a violation worth more than one point.
- 3
You ask the court
Pay the bail and the court's traffic school fee before the appearance date, the way your courtesy notice describes. If you are not eligible and attend anyway, the court reports the conviction and refunds nothing.
- 4
You finish a licensed course
The court sets how long you have to finish, counted from your payment. You choose and contact the school yourself. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756, costs $24.99, and saves your place whenever you stop.
- 5
The court receives your completion
You are responsible for getting the certificate to the court by the due date, so confirm the court received it. The court then closes the case and reports it to the DMV as a confidential conviction.
