Court code
Your DMV court code
Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code, which tells the DMV where your completion belongs. Your citation and courtesy notice name the courthouse, and the code belongs to that courthouse.
Santa Clara County Superior Court takes traffic tickets at two courthouses. Code 43635 is the South County Morgan Hill Courthouse. The Family Justice Center Courthouse in San Jose also hears traffic but has no code of its own on the DMV list, so ask a traffic clerk which code your case carries.
Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. Choose the courthouse your notice names, even if another one is closer to home.

Your case
Find your case, then ask for traffic school
Finding your case
Your citation reaches the court's system some time after you receive it, and only then does the court mail a courtesy notice with your options and a due date. You cannot pay the ticket or sign up for traffic school until the citation is in the system.
The court's traffic page links its Case Info website, where you can check whether your citation has been entered. If it is not there yet, call the number on your copy of the citation or the traffic line at (408) 556-3000.
How to ask for traffic school
Your courtesy notice lists your options and the due date, and the court's traffic school questions page explains what happens after the course. Santa Clara County Superior Court sets the bail and the traffic school fees, and the notice shows what you owe. Ask once the citation is in the court's system and before the due date on the notice.
If your ticket also has a fix-it violation, the notice says whether you can pay for it or must show proof of correction. A police officer signs off equipment violations, the DMV signs off license and registration violations, and a court clerk can sign off insurance, license and registration violations when you bring the right documents.

From citation to certificate in Santa Clara County
What Santa Clara County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:
- 1
You receive a citation
The officer's ticket has a date at the bottom. If no courtesy notice arrives by that date, you must contact the court by phone or in person.
- 2
You check the court's rules
The court's bail schedule marks each offense as eligible for traffic school or not, and your courtesy notice tells you your options. If your ticket needs a mandatory appearance, you must go to court to set a court date first.
- 3
You ask the court
Respond by the due date on your courtesy notice, the way the notice describes. Traffic school adds a fee for monitoring traffic violator schools to the bail, and the court sets that amount.
- 4
You finish a licensed course
The court sends you to the DMV's traffic school search, and it accepts proof of completion only from a school the DMV has licensed. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756 and costs $24.99. The court sets how long you have to finish, and your notice shows the date.
- 5
The court receives your completion
The school notifies the court when you finish, and the court says there is nothing further for you to do.
