State Route 99 runs north through Yuba City and Live Oak, State Route 20 crosses east to west through Yuba City, and State Routes 113 and 70 link the farm towns to the south. In 2023 the California Office of Traffic Safety counted 734 people killed or injured in county crashes, 9th of 58 counties in a ranking where 1st is the worst. Crashes where a driver aged 21 to 34 had been drinking rank 4th.

Every ticket goes to the Traffic Division in the Sutter County Superior Courthouse, 1175 Civic Center Blvd in Yuba City. The CHP's Yuba-Sutter Area covers all of Sutter County and Yuba County next door, so a ticket from a CHP officer on State Route 99 reaches this courthouse just as one from a Yuba City police officer does. Citations to drivers under 18 go there too, and a parent or guardian comes to any mandatory appearance.

Act by the appearance date at the bottom of your citation, even if no reminder notice arrives. That date is usually a due date, not a court date. If you take no action by then, the court adds a civil assessment unless you show good cause in writing, and it may find you guilty in your absence.

Two payments. The court takes the full bail plus its own nonrefundable traffic school fees before you attend. Your reminder notice lists your options, and the court's traffic school page shows the fee. Mirai Traffic School's course is $24.99, paid to us. If you cannot pay the full fine, you may ask the court to reduce it based on your ability to pay.

Pay your fine and the traffic school fees to the court before you attend, by mail to 1175 Civic Center Blvd or at the Traffic Division. If the citation also has a fix-it item, send the correction with the payment, because the court grants traffic school only after it has both.

The court sets the time to attend, counted from the day you pay, and its traffic school page shows it. If you need more time, come to the Traffic Division or call (530) 822-3303.

The court decides, not Mirai Traffic School. Not for an equipment violation, a misdemeanor, a mandatory appearance, more than one point, a tank vehicle, alcohol or drugs, or more than 25 miles over the limit. A failure to appear on the case must be settled and paid first.

The court's traffic school page links the DMV's lists of licensed classroom, home study and internet traffic schools. Mirai Traffic School is on the DMV's list under license E0756. Give your school code 51460 and the case or citation number from the top of your reminder notice.

For a noncommercial license, one conviction in 18 months, counted from the violation date, is held confidential and does not show on your record. A commercial license holder who was not driving a commercial vehicle keeps the conviction on the record, without a point.
