Court code

Your DMV court code

Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code. It matches your completion to your case at the right court. Your citation and notice of bail name the court, and the code belongs to it.

Mono County Superior Court hears adult traffic at two courthouses, the Mammoth Lakes Courthouse and the Bridgeport Courthouse, and both use DMV court code 26660. Citations issued to drivers under 18 go through the Probation Department instead.

Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. For any adult Mono County ticket, that is 26660.

Your case

Find your case, then ask for traffic school

Finding your case

Your citation and your notice of bail carry the citation number, and the appearance date is printed below your signature on the citation. The court enters citations in order of appearance date, not issue date, so a new ticket may not be in its system yet.

When you look up your citation, include every letter and number on it. The court's traffic page is the place to start online, and it links the court's own citation service. For anything the papers do not answer, email traffic@mono.courts.ca.gov, which the court says gets the quickest reply, or call (760) 924-5444.

The court's traffic page

How to ask for traffic school

If your violation qualifies, the court sends a Request to Attend Traffic School with your notice of bail, and the court's traffic page explains each way to return it. Pay the bail and the court's traffic school fee in full by the appearance date on your notice. The court sets the fee, and the notice and the traffic page show it. The court allows traffic school only with payment in full, and paying the bail alone counts as a guilty plea that the court reports to the DMV.

By mail, sign and date the request and send it with your notice of bail to Mono County Superior Court, P.O. Box 1037, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546. The court's traffic page warns that one full payment choice closes the case with a conviction, so follow its traffic school instructions exactly. A ticket that also carries a fix-it violation cannot be handled online, and the proof of correction goes to the court with your request.

What the court does with your ticket, and what Mirai Traffic School does for you.

From citation to certificate in Mono County

What Mono County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:

  1. 1

    You receive a citation

The appearance date sits below your signature on the citation. The court mails a notice of bail to the address on the citation before that date, but not receiving it is no legal excuse for missing the date.

  2. 2

    You check the court's rules

Mono asks for a moving violation of the Vehicle Code, no traffic school in the 18 months before, counted violation date to violation date, no more than 25 mph over the limit, no commercial vehicle, no charge that needs a court appearance, no alcohol or drug charge, and no outstanding failure to appear or pay.

  3. 3

    You ask the court

By the appearance date, return the Request to Attend Traffic School the way your notice describes, and pay the full amount the court charges. The court sets the fee, and the notice and the traffic page show it.

  4. 4

    You finish a licensed course

The court sets how long you have to finish, counted from your payment, and its traffic page shows the time. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756, costs $24.99, and saves your place whenever you stop.

  5. 5

    The court receives your completion

The school reports your completion to the court electronically, so you send the court nothing. With the fee paid and the completion in, the conviction does not show on your driving record.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask about Mono County Superior Court.

The statewide rules

This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.

The court enters citations by appearance date, not by the date the officer wrote them, so a recent ticket may not show up. Staff cannot quote bail until the citation is filed. If your notice of bail has not come as the appearance date nears, email traffic@mono.courts.ca.gov or call (760) 924-5444.

The one your citation and notice of bail name, Mammoth Lakes or Bridgeport. Both hear adult traffic and both use code 26660, so your completion carries the same code either way.

Adult traffic violations and infractions, plus Fish and Game, Mammoth Lakes and Mono County ordinance, boating, and dog or animal citations. Parking tickets do not go to the court, so contact the agency that wrote them.

Wait until the citation is entered, then take it to any law enforcement office so an officer can sign the back. Law enforcement cannot sign off an insurance violation, so send proof of insurance to the court, showing the insured's name, policy number, issue and expiry dates, vehicle and license number. For a lost citation, use the court's Certificate of Correction form.

Tell the court before your appearance date, and the clerk sets a court trial date through traffic@mono.courts.ca.gov. Infractions do not require you to appear, and your notice of bail explains how to ask for a written trial by declaration instead.

Ask the court to consider your ability to pay, at any point before the fines and fees are fully paid. Explain your finances in person, mail the Can't Afford to Pay Fine forms, or use the online tool the traffic page links.

Both buildings have full security. Everyone passes a weapons screening, and bags are x-rayed. Shorts, tank tops, crop tops and bare feet are not permitted inside.

The case may go to a collections agency, or a warrant may issue for your arrest. A failure to appear hold with the DMV can lead to a suspended license, and you may not be able to renew your car's registration.

Interpreters and language help

Mono County Superior Court provides interpreters in traffic cases based on service priority. Ask the clerk at the counter or in the courtroom, or fill out the court's Interpreter Request Form, and ask early, because a hearing can be continued until an interpreter is free. The interpreter coordinator answers at (760) 924-5444. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
