The DMV knows each California traffic court by a five-digit court code, and that code is how your completion finds your case. Your citation and courtesy bail notice name the court, and the code belongs to it.

Your case

Find your case, then ask for traffic school

Finding your case

At the bottom of your citation, the line you signed promises to appear or to settle the case by the due date written there. The court is not required to send a bail notice, but it mails one courtesy bail notice to the address on the citation. That notice shows the original bail, before any proof of correction lowers it.

The court's traffic page links its payment site, where you can settle the case. If you have no notice, call the court at (530) 842-0411 to learn the bail on your citation before you ask for anything.

How to ask for traffic school

You ask Siskiyou County Superior Court for traffic school by paying the bail and the court's non-refundable traffic school fee together, before the clerk sends a permission letter. Your courtesy bail notice shows the bail under its Traffic School Option, and the court's traffic school page explains each way to ask. Without a notice, call the court for the bail, then send a note asking for traffic school along with the bail and fee.

Once the court has your request and the full amount, the clerk continues your case and mails a permission letter with instructions. If you are not eligible and send the money anyway, the court forfeits the bail and fee, closes the case and reports the conviction to the DMV.

From citation to certificate in Siskiyou County

What Siskiyou County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:

  1. 1

    You receive a citation

Watch for the one courtesy bail notice at the address on your citation. If none comes, your signature still binds you to act by the due date on the citation.

  2. 2

    You check the court's rules

Siskiyou asks for a valid license, no traffic school on a citation in the 18 months before this one, no open failure to appear, no violation over one point, no alcohol or drug charge, and no more than 25 mph over the limit. A commercial license holder may attend only for a ticket in a non-commercial vehicle.

  3. 3

    You ask the court

Before the due date, pay the bail and the court's traffic school fee together, as your courtesy bail notice describes. Send any signed-off fix-it proof and its correction fee at the same time. The court takes no partial payments and no community service in place of bail with traffic school.

  4. 4

    You finish a licensed course

The permission letter tells you what comes next, and the court sets the new due date. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756, costs $24.99, and saves your place whenever you stop.

  5. 5

    The court receives your completion

The school notifies the court when you pass, but the court makes it your job to confirm the notice arrived by the due date. If it did not, the court forfeits the bail and fee and reports a conviction with points to the DMV.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask about Siskiyou County Superior Court.

The statewide rules

This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.

No. The court's clerks cannot reduce bail or close a case on request. Ask a judicial officer in person at a traffic arraignment calendar at the branch named near the bottom of your citation. The judges do not read letters asking for a reduction. If you plead guilty or no contest before one, you may explain the circumstances before sentencing.

Yes. You may ask at arraignment, and you may schedule an arraignment without depositing bail. The court's pages carry form TR-320 for the request. Its online ability to pay tool is not for traffic school, a contest or a fix-it reduction.

Yes, by an online trial by declaration, for an infraction that needs no personal appearance and before the due date passes. You and the officer each send a written statement, and a judge emails you the decision. You give up the right to a new trial, and you may choose an in-person trial instead.

The court requires full bail in its trust account before it sets a trial. Ask the court for the forms, then send them with the full bail by the due date at the bottom of the citation. The clerk sets the trial and writes to you at the address on the forms. Bail that arrives without the forms is forfeited and reported to the DMV as a conviction.

After the repair, take the vehicle and the citation to a peace officer, or to the DMV for a registration violation. The sign-off must show the violations cleared and the officer's name and badge number. The court takes no repair bills, and the officer does not send the citation in, so you mail it with the bail due.

For an insurance ticket, send a copy of the insurance card, because the court does not accept a signed-off citation as proof. What you owe depends on whether the policy began before the citation date, after it, or not at all. For California Registration Required, the DMV, a CHP officer or a copy of your current California registration clears it, and the court returns an out-of-state registration.

The court notifies you and gives you a set time to pay, send proof of correction or ask for an appearance date. You may also ask for a new trial on form TR-220 and post the fine, which the court holds until the new trial ends. After that, the case goes to Financial Credit Network at 1-800-540-9011, and a DMV hold lifts only once that account is paid in full.

Interpreters and language help

The court's complaint form about interpreter services comes in Spanish. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
