Court code

Your DMV court code

Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code. It matches your completion to your case at the right court. Your citation and Reminder Notice name the court, and the code belongs to the courthouse that holds your case.

Sonoma County Superior Court hears all adult traffic in one building, the Hall of Justice in Santa Rosa, under code 49460. Juvenile traffic works from the same building under code 49200. No other Sonoma courthouse takes a traffic ticket, so an adult ticket from anywhere in the county carries 49460.

Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code.

Juvenile Traffic works from the Hall of Justice at (707) 521-6681, under code 49200. A juvenile ticket that cannot be corrected means an appearance with a parent or legal guardian on the date the Reminder Notice gives, and every juvenile payment and paper goes by mail to Juvenile Traffic at the Hall of Justice.

Your case

Find your case, then ask for traffic school

Finding your case

Sonoma County Superior Court does not provide case information over the internet, so no website will show your Sonoma ticket. The notice gives the bail and the due date, says whether your ticket can go to traffic school, explains any fix-it step and tells you how to appear in court.

For anything the notice does not answer, call the Traffic Division at (707) 521-6680 or research the case in person at the Hall of Justice. The court's automated phone line asks for your citation number, which is printed on your citation and on your Reminder Notice.

The court's traffic page

How to ask for traffic school

Your Reminder Notice says whether your ticket can go to traffic school and shows the total due with traffic school. You pay that total to the court before you sign up with a school. It includes a court administrative fee that the court does not refund, and the court's traffic school page explains the ways to pay. Once the payment arrives, the court mails you your traffic school forms and a list of licensed schools.

The court's traffic mailing address is Superior Court Traffic Division, 625 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403. If you cannot pay the full traffic school total at once, call the traffic school referral line at (707) 521-6587 and ask about your options before the due date.

What the court does with your ticket, and what Mirai Traffic School does for you.

From citation to certificate in Sonoma County

What Sonoma County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:

  1. 1

    You receive a citation

The citation carries an appearance date, and you must clear it with the court on or before that date. The court then mails a Reminder Notice to the address on the citation.

  2. 2

    You check the court's rules

Sonoma asks for a valid license, no traffic school within 18 months of this violation, counted violation date to violation date, no more than 25 mph over the limit, and a ticket not written in a commercial vehicle. Your Reminder Notice says whether your ticket qualifies.

  3. 3

    You ask the court

Pay the total due with traffic school shown on your Reminder Notice before the due date. The court sets the amount, and it refunds no traffic school fee paid to it.

  4. 4

    You finish a licensed course

The court mails your traffic school forms after the payment arrives, and they carry your due date. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756, costs $24.99, and saves your place whenever you stop.

  5. 5

    The court receives your completion

Finish by the due date and pay every traffic school fee, and the DMV holds the conviction confidential. If you miss the date, the court forfeits the bail, closes the case and reports a conviction to the DMV.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask about Sonoma County Superior Court.

The statewide rules

This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.

Call the traffic school referral line at (707) 521-6587 and ask about your options. You can also ask the court to decide your ability to pay because of financial hardship, so it can consider another sentence such as community service.

Call the Traffic Division at (707) 521-6680. The court can enter a citation only after the agency that wrote it files it, and until then staff cannot tell you the bail. The date on your citation still holds, so clear the ticket on or before it.

Post the bail the Reminder Notice states and file one of three papers: a Declaration of Intent to Plead Not Guilty in person, a Request for Court Trial on form TR0035 by mail, or a Request for Trial by Written Declaration on form TR-205 before the due date. A not guilty finding refunds the bail. After a guilty finding by declaration, you may ask for a new trial on form TR221.

Yes. Call (707) 521-6680 to schedule a court appearance and ask for a trial there. The court takes no bail deposit for that appearance.

No. The Traffic Division handles infractions and less serious misdemeanors heard as infractions. The court sends charges such as unlicensed driving, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving, a speed contest and driving under the influence to the District Attorney and its Criminal Division.

A police officer signs the Certificate of Correction, and you send it to the court with the correction amount on your Reminder Notice. For an insurance violation, send a copy of the policy showing it was valid on the violation date. The DMV may sign off only license and registration violations.

Yes, if you were not driving a commercial vehicle. After you finish, contact the DMV's Driver Safety Office about the point, as the court directs. The DMV keeps the point off your record but does not hold the conviction confidential, so your insurance may still be affected.

Interpreters and language help

Tell the court or your attorney as far ahead of the hearing as you can that you need an interpreter. Without an advance request, the court may delay the case until one is assigned. In a case that is not criminal, you can send the court's request form to the clerk's office or email it to the Interpreter Coordinator's Office at interpretercoordinators@sonomacourt.org. The court publishes that civil request form in Spanish, Vietnamese, Punjabi and Chinese. Mirai Traffic School's course runs in English, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.
