Court code

Your DMV court code

Every California traffic court has a five-digit DMV court code, and your completion reaches your case through that code. Your ticket and reminder notice name the courthouse, and the code belongs to that courthouse.

Sacramento County Superior Court uses one code for traffic, 34470, for the Carol Miller Justice Center. Every adult and juvenile traffic infraction in the county goes there, so there is no second code to choose between. Other sites list 34470 under several names, and they all mean this one building.

Before the final exam, Mirai Traffic School asks you to confirm your court and its code. For a Sacramento County ticket it is the Carol Miller Justice Center and 34470.

Your case

Find your case, then ask for traffic school

Finding your case

The officer writes a court date on the ticket. The court receives the ticket from the officer's agency some time later, and once it is filed, the court mails a reminder notice to the address on the ticket. Either way, you must resolve the case on or before the date on the ticket.

The court's ticket options page links its case search, where you can view and print your case documents. After your traffic school request goes through, the same case search holds your Agreement to Attend Traffic Violator School with its due date and instructions. For questions, call (916) 669-5712 or ask at the Traffic Public Counter.

How to ask for traffic school

Sacramento County Superior Court takes a traffic school request any time on or before the due date on your ticket, and its ticket options page lists each way to ask. By mail, write to the Traffic Division, Carol Miller Justice Center, 301 Bicentennial Circle, Room 100, Sacramento, CA 95826. The court does not accept postmarks, so a mailed request must reach the court by the due date.

Once the court accepts the request, you pay the full bail, any proof of correction fees and a non-refundable administrative fee. The court sets the amounts and the time to pay, and your Agreement to Attend shows the due date. The court allows no partial payments and no extensions, and the school's own fee is separate.

From citation to certificate in Sacramento County

What Sacramento County Superior Court does with your ticket, step by step:

  1. 1

    You receive a citation

The officer writes a court date on the ticket. You must resolve the case on or before that date, even if the reminder notice has not arrived.

  2. 2

    You check the court's rules

Rule of Court 4.104 governs. You need a valid non-commercial license, no traffic school sign-up in California in the 18 months before this ticket, and a moving violation that carries a DMV point, with no misdemeanor, commercial vehicle, mandatory appearance, alcohol or drugs. A failure to appear must be settled and paid in full first.

  3. 3

    You request it and pay

Request traffic school by the due date on your ticket. Once the court accepts it, pay the full bail, any proof of correction fees and the administrative fee in full, since the court takes no partial payments.

  4. 4

    You finish a licensed course

The DMV keeps the list of eligible schools the court points to. Mirai Traffic School is licensed by the DMV as E0756 and costs $24.99. The course and the payment share one due date, on your Agreement to Attend.

  5. 5

    The court receives your completion

Certificates reach the court electronically. When both the course and the payment are on time, the point is masked on a non-commercial driver's record. If either comes in late, the point is reported on your DMV record, and the court grants no extension.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What drivers ask about Sacramento County Superior Court.

The statewide rules

This court, not the school, grants traffic school under Vehicle Code section 42005, and you pick any DMV-licensed school. A completed course keeps one conviction in 18 months confidential under section 1808.7. Read the full statewide rules on our California traffic school rules page.

Yes, under Government Code 68645.4, for vehicle code infractions with no accident, no failure to appear and no plea yet entered. Request it by the due date with a signed form TRL/I-205, and the court's ticket options page lists where to send it.

The court warns that the conviction is then reported on your driving record, no fees are refunded, and you cannot attend traffic school on any other California case for 18 months from the violation date. Check eligibility first.

The court names the common reasons: the course or the payment came in after the due date, you hold a commercial license and have not called DMV Mandatory Actions at (916) 657-6525, or you attended traffic school in California in the 18 months before this violation. If none fits, ask your school to check the name, date of birth, citation number and case number you gave it, since the school can resubmit the certificate.

You can ask for a reduction based on your ability to pay, or for the Alternative Sentencing Program, which may let you do community service instead of paying all or part of the fine. The court cannot sentence you to both community service and traffic school on the same case.

Only for a violation in a personal vehicle with no failure to appear, and then only for the point count. The court says the conviction is not marked confidential for insurance purposes.

Any law enforcement officer can sign the ticket as corrected at a law enforcement office, but do not stop an officer on the road for it. The court does not accept self-certification. An insurance violation must be certified by the court, and an insurance card or policy declaration page for the vehicle or the driver counts as proof.

No. The Traffic Division sends you to the parking agency listed on the ticket to pay or contest it. If you disagree with that agency's final decision, you can appeal to the court.
